Dear Lower School Parents,
There are so many reasons I love spring! I am certainly a warm weather fan, and the flowers and longer days don’t hurt my feelings either. I also have great appreciation for all the themes of rebirth and renewal that surround us in spring. On Monday, our Jewish friends began the observance of Passover, and on Sunday, our Christian friends will celebrate Easter. First graders educated us about these special holidays during assembly this week and reminded us of the hope, tradition and desire for peace that play an integral role in these observances.
It is both an exciting and busy time in the school year. There are many celebrations, time-honored traditions and end of year experiences in store. Please pay special attention to the calendar so that you don’t miss a thing!
A couple of important reminders:
- As you know, Catherine Steiner-Adair will be visiting GDS on April 26. She will share her research about the impact of technology on the family unit. Dr. Steiner-Adair has agreed to host a special session just for Lower School parents at 2:15 p.m. on April 26. We will gather in the Bengal Den in the Lower School to learn from her expertise and share our personal experiences. Please make plans to attend – you won’t want to miss it. You are also invited to come to her all parent session at 7 p.m. that evening in the Sloan Theatre.
- Please continue to send in food for Greensboro Urban Ministry. The Philanthropy Council has awarded us a $500 matching grant – one dollar for every can of food up to 500 cans!
Enjoy the long weekend … we will see you on Monday!
