Upper School math teacher Cindy Stan was named the recipient of the 2012 James P. Hendrix, Jr. Excellence in Teaching Award. Stan was applauded for her gift to teach, and her compassion, generosity and energy in the classroom. In addition to teaching math for over 30 years at Greensboro Day School, she spent a number of years as a technology teacher laying the ground work for our current integrated laptop program and also served as the yearbook advisor.
The James P. Hendrix Award for Excellence in Teaching was established and named in 1986 for former Headmaster Jim Hendrix to honor annually one Greensboro Day School teacher who exemplifies and consistently demonstrates the highest standards to which we teachers all aspire.
