Our mission: To provide a safe, educational, and empowering summer experience to our campers and students in an expert environment that promotes trust, kindness, acceptance and leadership.

Welcome to Greensboro Day School Summer Programs and Summer Academy 2014! We look forward to spending our summer with you!

All area students are invited to the GDS campus, where we provide a safe and expert environment to explore academics, arts, athletics, and so much more. Our camps foster learning, laughter and friendship, and promote a real joy for learning. Students and campers can develop socially, emotionally, and physically and enhance their sense of independence. An adult-only, highly qualified staff maintains our year round standard of a safe, kind, and innovative environment.

Join the fun and learning at Greensboro Day School Summer Programs and Summer Academy 2014!

Note: Camper confidentiality  is of the utmost importance. We will not disclose rosters of camps upon request.

Any changes or cancellations will result in a $25 change/transfer/cancel fee. Full refunds after April 11 will only be given for extenuating circumstances, at the directors' discretion.

Drop-off, Pick-up and Check-in Information

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CAREFULLY CHECKED YOUR CAMP TIMES AND DATES. Some of our camps end before 2:00pm, and some start later and/or only last 3-4 days.  We are unable to provide child care for any gaps in camp times or days of camp(s).

MONDAY MORNING CHECK-IN: First day check in for MOST camps* will be in the Lower School Media Center entrance by the Lower School Library. Please look for the signs and  balloons and outside registration desk. Volunteers/counselors will be there to assist with your specific camp locations.

*All theater and athletic camps taking place in the Dillard Gym area may check in directly at Sloan Theater and the Dillard Gym area.

AN IMPORTANT POLICY CHANGE THIS YEAR: ALL CAMPERS MUST PARK AND WALK IN FOR CHECK-IN AND CHECK- OUT EACH DAY OF CAMP! This is to ensure all campers are safe and get where they are going for the entire week. Please park in the marked northernmost lot and WALK YOUR CHILD(ren) to the main registration area on Monday mornings. After Monday, feel free to come into our facilities and walk your child(ren) to their classroom(s). Thanks for your cooperation.

If you are NOT SURE WHERE TO GO, please go to the main check in at the LS Media Center entrance. Please check the map located on this site so you will be familiar with campus.

Check-in begins every Monday at 8:15 a.m. Please do not drop-off your camper(s) any earlier unless you are utilizing early drop-off. If you do need to bring your child earlier than 8:15, please remember that campers should be brought to the early drop-off area. This will be marked each week. Park near the northernmost parking lot (signage will be visible). Early drop-off starts at 7:45 a.m.  You will need to register online for this option.

PICK-UP/DROP-OFF AFTER MONDAY MORNING: Drop-off and pick-up for all camps are directly in the rooms/areas where your camp(s) take place. You will be asked to sign- in and out each day.

All campers not picked up by 2:15 will be taken to the Afternoon Explorations program located in the LS designated area. You will be charged for this program.

AFTERNOON EXPLORATIONS: Our staff will make sure that the children are walked to the afternoon care facilities at the end of each camp day.  These children should bring an additional snack and drink for the afternoon. Please remember that each child should be picked up by 5:30 p.m. at the Bengal Cub Club area.

Also please note: We often take field trips during Afternoon Explorations. If you need to pick-up your camper(s) before 5:30 p.m., please check with the Afternoon Explorations Director to make sure your child will be on campus. The Afternoon Director will also let you know about any special necessities (swimsuits, etc.) for trips. PLEASE respect our age parameters for Afternoon Explorations.

What to Bring to Camp

FOOD, DRESS, SUNSCREEN:  Please send a snack, lunch and two drinks (or a refillable water bottle) each day.  If you choose Afternoon Explorations, please pack another snack and drink for that as well.  Please do not send soft drinks

If your child is attending a sports camp, send a water bottle. Please be sure that s/he wears closed-toe shoes, and dresses appropriately, (easy to move in, cool and comfortable clothes are best). Remember the kids play and get dirty, so please don’t send them in their “best” clothes.

Please bring sunscreen or apply at home before attending camp. It is a good idea to have your child wear sunscreen every day, as we frequently eat and snack outdoors

ALLERGIES/MEDICAL ISSUES: If your child has any kind of food allergy, environmental allergy, or medical issue(s), kindly let the instructors know AS SOON as camp starts. We will also have emergency contact sheets and medical forms on file in the main summer office. Thanks for your cooperation!

Refunds and Pro-Rating

PLEASE NOTE: while we make every effort to accommodate busy parents, for last-minute, same day Monday registrations, there will be a $25 FEE PER CAMPER FOR SUNDAY NIGHT PRIOR  and MONDAY REGISTRATIONS and CAMP CHANGES.  You will be expected to pay this fee on Monday. Also, please remember that we cannot guarantee placing your camper(s) if camps are full. Thanks for your understanding.

REFUNDS and PRO-RATING: Refunds will ONLY BE GIVEN for serious extenuating health or family concerns. Camp Directors will make this determination. Pro-rating camps will no longer be available for any reason. Please understand that when we book camps, we rely on fees to pay instructors and assistants and cover all materials, regardless if your camper joins us for two days or all five. Thanks for your cooperation!
