Word Problems

Place Value

Explain It

Rationale:  The three attachments above contain practice of the skills that rising 7th grade students should be able to perform successfully - most of the time. The goal is to see what the student can do without additional help first; then, as they check the answer keys provided, they can determine if some summer help is needed to make the transition to 7th grade easier.

Student directions: Rising seventh graders, the basic skills you've learned about through grade 6 are the essential skills needed to move beyond basic arithmetic and into algebra. It is my hope that you will complete (at least half) of these problems over a period of a few weeks to see if you are up to speed on the concepts I think you should be comfortable with when you arrive in 7th grade this fall. There are answer keys - use them. find out if you need a little help before you return to school. We will review these basics in seventh grade; however, we will move quickly through the topics that have been covered many times already! - Mrs. Phillips
