Class of 2026 Celebrates College Pennant Day

On April 16, the College Counseling Team hosted the annual senior tradition of unveiling the College Pennant Wall outside their office.

Seniors were cheered on by faculty, staff, and classmates as they entered the Smith Upper School and made their way to the College Counseling Office. Dean of College Counseling Keeon Gregory congratulated the seniors before unveiling the Pennant Wall, which recognizes seniors who have decided on their their college destination. 

After the unveiling, seniors stuck around to take pictures and celebrate the conclusion of their college search.

Here are some quick facts about college matriculation for the Class of 2026 as of April 16, 2026:

• 78 seniors in the Class of 2026 earned 365 college acceptances at 135 different colleges and universities.
• The Class of 2026 will matriculate to 49 different colleges in 17 different states as well as 2 colleges in Great Britain.
• 45 seniors will attend public universities, while 27 will attend private colleges or universities.
• 33 seniors will matriculate to 11 different colleges in North Carolina, while 39 will matriculate to 29 different colleges out of state (including 1 abroad).
• 34 seniors (45% of the class) will matriculate to 13 different schools in North Carolina.
• 42 students (55% of the class) will matriculate to 36 schools outside of North Carolina, including 2 who will matriculate at colleges in Great Britain.
