Greensboro Day School is pleased to welcome Jamie Kennedy as Executive Assistant to the Head of School, beginning July 1, 2026.
Jamie brings more than 12 years of experience supporting independent school communities through volunteer leadership, strategic projects, and executive administrative work. She is known for her ability to anticipate needs, manage complexity, and support senior leadership with both precision and insight.
Earlier in her career, Jamie spent more than a decade working for financial brokerage firms providing administrative, operational, and client services support that required a high level of discretion. A fundamental team member, Jamie developed a strong foundation for high-level operational support during her tenure in the financial services industry.
Most recently, Jamie has contributed as a consultant and committee member at Durham Academy supporting strategic visioning and mission alignment, leading workshops for faculty and administrators, and serving on the Learning and Environment Committee. She has also partnered on parent programming and contributed to multiple strategic projects that strengthen community engagement.
Independent school leaders describe her as detail-oriented, responsive, and a high-level thinker who will be a trusted thought partner to the Head of School. She is deeply relationship-driven and brings a steady, thoughtful approach to her work.
Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Finance from American University in Washington, D.C., and she also studied at Richmond College in London. In her free time, Jamie enjoys spending time with horses, participating in yoga or group exercise, camping, taking road trips and reading nonfiction, especially if it’s about 21st century education.
Jamie currently lives in Durham with her husband and son, and she is thrilled to join the GDS community. She begins her full-time tenure at GDS on July 1, 2026, and will begin transition planning alongside Gail on a part-time basis in May. Please join me in welcoming Jamie to Greensboro Day School!
