Preschool Celebrates The Week of the Young Child

During the week of April 13, the preschool community has been celebrating the Week of the Young Child. This weeklong event, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is a joyful celebration of early learning, young children, and the adults who support them. Themed days throughout the week highlight the critical role of play, creativity, and collaboration in a child’s development.

Here is what our preschoolers were up to during the week:

  • Music Monday: Preschool and Lower School Music Teacher Dr. Jill Hare led students in a sing-along.
  • Tasty Tuesday: Students visited The W to eat a snack of fresh berries.
  • Work Together Wednesday: Students added their handprints to a beautiful “We Love GDS” banner created by Preschool and Lower School Visual Arts Teacher Michelle Osborne.
  • ArTsy Thursday: Students painted rocks to make a colorful rock garden next to the preschool entrance.
  • Fun Friday: Students enjoyed a festive party on the playground with music and bubbles. Prowler and Security Officer Calvin Davenport led the students in a dance party!
