After submitting the application, you will receive further information about the following steps.

Step 2 - Parent Questionnaire

No one knows your child like you do! To help us better serve your child and family, parents will be asked to complete a Parent Questionnaire.

Step 3 - Admission Testing

In lieu of traditional admission testing due to COVID, Middle School applicants will submit standardized test scores from the previous 2 years. Additional virtual assessments may be required.

Step 4 - Teacher Recommendations

Rising 5th and 6th grade applicants will be asked to submit one Teacher Information Form from their homeroom teacher.

If your child is applying to 7th or 8th grade, both their Math and English teachers will be asked to submit forms after the first marking period.

It is the family's responsibility to give these forms to their child's current teacher/school.

Step 5 - Report Cards

After December 1, parents will need to provide copies of the applicant's current report card and from the two previous years (if applicable). These should include any standardized testing scores.

We do not request official transcript copies until a student formally enrolls at Greensboro Day School.

Step 6 - School Visits

COVID regulations prohibit us from hosting non-GDS students for visit days. Applicants will have a virtual interview with a Middle School Faculty member.

Notification Dates

Applications for Middle and Upper School are accepted throughout the year if space is available. Initial decisions for completed applications are made on the first of February, and continue throughout the spring and summer on a rolling basis. Once all of an application is complete, you can expect a decision within 2 weeks. Admission decisions are made separately from decisions about need-based financial assistance.

We want this process to be as easy as possible for you and your family. We realize that different families have different needs, and we have designed our admissions process to reflect that knowledge. Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make. The faculty and staff at Greensboro Day School look forward to helping you in any way we can.
Greensboro Day School develops the intellectual, ethical, and interpersonal foundations students need to become constructive contributors to the world.
