New Family Resources

Welcome to Greensboro Day School! We are excited to have you as part of our community.

As a new family, you are now part of a place where curiosity is encouraged, relationships matter, and each student is known and supported. We look forward to partnering with you as your child grows academically, socially, and personally.

This page is designed as a helpful resource to guide you as you prepare for the year ahead—offering key information, important details, and next steps along the way. During the summer months, new families will also be contacted by a member of the New Family Welcome Committee, who will serve as an additional resource and help you acclimate to the community.

Welcome Videos

We have created a series of videos that will help parents/guardians and students learn more about what to expect as they move into a new grade level. We currently have move-up videos for Bengal Tots (2- and 3-year-olds) through Fourth Grade.

The School Day

Carpool begins at 7:45 a.m.
The school day runs from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Administrative offices are open between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday–Friday when school is in session.
After School Programs run until 6 p.m.

Summer Hours

Summer hours begin on Monday, June 1. Administrative offices will be open Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Doc’s Coffee & Smoothie Shop will also be open during summer hours.
Summer Camps begin on June 8. Including Before Care and After Care, Summer Camp hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Summer Camps and the GDS campus are closed June 29–July 3 in observance of the July 4 holiday and Friday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

myGDS Parent Portal

Greensboro Day School’s parent portal is called myGDS. You will be able to access myGDS starting June 1 using the same account information you used during the application process. Look for the myGDS link in the main navigation section of our website.

PawPrints

During the school year, GDS families will receive our weekly email newsletter, PawPrints. The newsletter contains a mix of news and announcements as well as calendar reminders for the coming week and weekly updates from division directors. This is our primary way of communicating with families, so be sure to take a look each week. The most current issues are linked below.
