Learning Support

The Greensboro Day School Learning Support Team provides students and families with comprehensive and coordinated support services throughout their time at GDS.

Our exceptional team of professionals works closely with families on how best to meet the needs of children. They work daily with teachers, students, and parents to help young people reach their full academic and social/emotional potential by offering remediation and enrichment one-on-one, in small groups, and in a classroom setting.

What We Do

Learning Support Coordinators provide appropriate, need-based, and heart-driven services to our students in order for the desired results to be accessible and attainable.

In addition, Learning Support Coordinators

  • collaborate with the Counselors and School Nurses to support the growth and development of the whole child.
  • work with teachers at each grade level to differentiate lessons and share strategies to support student needs.
  • coordinate additional services, including:
    • one-on-one intervention with the Learning Support Coordinator or Math Specialist to monitor for possible learning gaps.
    • encouraging medical check-ins to assess vision or hearing.
    • connecting families with community resources that could provide speech/language services, occupational therapy, academic tutoring, or further educational testing.
  • plan and provide professional development and parent education.
