  • Lower School After-School Enrichment Programs Spring 2021

    GDS students in Junior Kindergarten through 4th grade, have the opportunity to participate in Mandarin, Global Music, and Theatre classes this spring.

    Enrichment Classes 2021
    We are excited to offer two after school enrichment classes and one Saturday option for our spring 2021 term. Registration opens Thursday, January 7, and remains open through the week of January 18. To see full class descriptions, schedules, and to register, please click here. 

    We look forward to providing quality programming for students as an after-school option. Students will follow physical distancing protocols, and staff continues to follow all recommended guidelines under the school Re-Entry Plan.

    Will COVID-19 precautions apply during Enrichment Classes?
    The only offerings in-person are private lessons. Siblings can attend together, if interested. Any indoor spaces used are measured and marked for appropriate 6-foot distancing capacity. All other precautions will apply as outlined in the GDS Re-Entry Plan, including wearing face coverings, hand washing, and frequent sanitizing.
    What if we go into distance learning?
    Families will receive a credit to their child’s student account for the weeks we are not on campus.
    How and where do I pick up my child?
    At the end of a designated enrichment session, your child(ren) will be escorted to the BCC entrance (alcove located on the North end of the Lower School building. Parents should arrive and wait until the enrichment teacher brings child to the BCC door. Parents are not allowed to enter the building at this time.
  • Suzuki Fall 2021

    Suzuki lessons are available for Lower School students as part of the Greensboro Day School auxiliary program. The program is open to all rising Junior Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students.

  • Bengal Cub Club

    Bengal Cub Club, GDS' after-school care, is for Lower School students who need care from the time school is out until 6 p.m. BCC is also open during teacher workdays, teacher conference days and some school vacations.

    The BCC staff includes teachers and a director who serve two groups of students, Early Childhood - 1st grade and grades 2-4. Special consideration is given to children in the Early Childhood program (Bitty Bengals and Junior Kindergarten) to ensure their success in an extended day program. Some children may require modified schedules or a trial period. Early Childhood families enrolling for the first time must contact the Director of BCC to arrange for this process. 
    • Our youngest Bengals enjoy centers, enrichment lessons, technology, crafts, movies, recreation time, and field trips.
    • Older Bengals have supervised homework and study time, as well as, free play, movies, technology, and field trips.
    Children need to bring an afternoon snack and water bottle to BCC. During full-day operations, a morning snack and lunch will also need to be provided.

    A student can attend for as little as one afternoon a week to a full five afternoons in a week. Students must have an enrollment form on file in order to attend BCC.

    Siblings in attendance will be half price.

    Long day

    7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. ($45)
    Siblings in attendance will be half price.
    Separate field trip expenses may apply.

    $1/minute after 6 p.m., late fee.
