Health Center

Our experienced and caring team of nursing professionals provides health care, first aid, and medical support during the school day.

The Health Center and the services it provides are an important part of a child’s life at school, especially in the event of illness or injury. While students are on the GDS campus, the Health Center is open to treat anything from small bumps and bruises to significant health concerns. Our two full-time nurses get to know Greensboro Day School students and provide continuity of care as children transition from one grade to the next.

Our Health Center staff have the skill set necessary to support families who have children with chronic care concerns such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, and seizures. They also provide American Heart Association CPR/AED training for upper school students.

Greensboro Day School utilizes multiple layers of mitigation to reduce the risk of communicable disease transmission on campus.

As we live through the current phase of COVID-19—one that includes readily available home tests, the discontinuation of school-based contact tracing, and access to COVID vaccines for all ages—our Health Center protocols will treat cases of COVID-19 as we would any communicable disease, such as influenza.

Our Operations Plan for communicable disease is guided by the following priorities:

  • Health and safety of our students and employees
  • Academic excellence
  • Minimized disruptions
  • Reassurance and peace of mind for our parents and families

To reduce the risk of disease transmission on campus, our mitigation strategies include

  • Air filtration via our Global Plasma Solutions Air Purification System.
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene
  • Careful classroom cleaning
