Convocation 2019 Awards

During the Convocation Ceremony on Thursday, June 6, a member of the senior class is recognized with the Maureen B. Gerhardt Award. This award is presented annually to an Upper School student who best exemplifies the honor, personal integrity, responsible citizenship, and service to the community as articulated in the Greensboro Day School mission statement.

Congratulations to William Hayes Jr. ’19, on his recognition as the 2019 Maureen B. Gerhardt Award recipient.

Jenny Rowlett ’19 received the 2019 Edward G. Dickinson Award for Environmental Leadership. This award is given annually to faculty, students, board members, groups or staff within our community who exhibit extraordinary environmental leadership. The award is named after the first recipient, Middle School Director Ed Dickinson.

Citizenship awards were presented to Karlton Gaskin Jr. ’19 and Lily Yamagata ’19

Student speakers included Lily Yamagata ’19 on the topic of friendship, William Hayes Jr. ’19 on the topic of scholarship, and Elsa Rose Karcher ’19 on the topic of sportsmanship.
