2019 Top Teacher Honored


Congratulations to Mrs. Kelly Sipe, Kindergarten teacher who was named the 2019 James P. Hendrix, Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching recipient during Graduation on Friday, June 7. This award was presented by Ms. Iraida Fung, the 2018 Hendrix Award recipient. 

The Hendrix award was established in honor of Greensboro Day School’s 4th headmaster and is presented annually at Graduation to the faculty member who exemplifies the highest standards of teaching and professionalism.
 
Mrs. Sipe is known as a powerful educator and dedicated colleague, working at Greensboro Day School for more than 20 years. In addition to her role as a Kindergarten teacher, she is a faculty leader of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program, often leading other faculty into a broader understanding of our work, our purpose, and our significance. She is a published author, and known as being poetic with a masterful use of language. Mrs. Sipe received the Brooks Sabbatical in 2015 which provides a summer sabbatical opportunity for one faculty member each year.

Mrs. Sipe is married to John Sipe and they are the parents of Ashlyn '20 and Reagan '29.
