GDS Employees Assume New Leadership Roles
Greensboro Day School is pleased to announce several employees who will be taking on new leadership roles.
Dr. Ayesha Swinton will take on the role of the Director of Inclusion and Global Engagement. Ayesha has been working diligently with our school leadership, faculty, and student body on our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives over the past several years. She has also worked with our international students in our ESL courses and has led several international and domestic trips. She brings a strong skill set, excellent educational background, and a diligent and supportive leadership style to the role. We look forward to her work as she leads our community efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion, and supports our strategic plan in the area of global engagement. Dr. Swinton will continue to teach three Spanish classes in the Upper School.
Kyle Gilmer will be the Middle School Dean of Student Life. We are excited about Kyle in this position and know that he will be a vital part of the middle school leadership team. Kyle has worked at GDS since 2011 and in that time he has taught PE to students from 1st -12th grade. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Kyle has also been an advisor, bringing a good understanding of middle school-aged students, and how to best support and build relationships with tween and teens. We are delighted that Kyle will move into this role in the Middle School which will allow Michelle Bostian the time and focus to support our students as a full-time Middle School Counselor. Kyle will continue to be involved with the Upper School as a coach and Health and Wellness teacher.
Ken Field has become the Chair of our Physical Education Department. Ken has been serving this year as the Interim Chair, and his work has been exemplary. He brings a much-valued Lower School perspective to department chair meetings and works tirelessly to learn our program across all divisions.
The subsequent moves serve to further align the structure of the school with the needs of our students and families.
