Cason Pierce ’20 receives Founders’ Award

The Founders’ Award is given to the senior student who best exemplifies the characteristics of scholarship, sportsmanship, and leadership inherent in the founding of Greensboro Day School. The Founders’ Award is usually given at graduation, but we were unable to present this award in 2020 because of the pandemic. On August 2, Head of School Tracie Catlett presented the 2020 Founders’ Award to Cason Pierce ’20.

Cason came to Greensboro Day School as a freshman and quickly showed his commitment to academic excellence by earning a place on the Head of School list—a place he maintained throughout his time at GDS. Cason also served as the Student Body President and was involved in numerous extracurricular activities. He was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team, serving as captain of the team and helping the team to three consecutive state championships. He was also a member of the varsity golf team. Cason’s teachers describe him as a model citizen who has a strong moral compass and consistently works to improve his community. He will begin his sophomore year at Duke University this fall.

Congratulations, Cason, on receiving the 2020 Founders’ Award!
