Students Participated in Salute to Student-Athlete Program
Seven Greensboro Day School students participated in the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Salute to Student-Athlete Program, May 4-5 in conjunction with the Hall of Fame’s annual induction banquet.
Rett Grewal ’20, Fulton Bell ’20, Cason Pierce ’20, Carson McCorkle ’21, Audrey Kim ’20, Caroline Doss ’20, and Ginny Roman ’20 were among 258 student-athletes who participated.
The program recognizes students from across the state of North Carolina and introduces them to the many positive lessons to be learned from North Carolina’s outstanding sports heritage. Students from 39 different schools from 21 different counties participated in the event.
The two-day event included a special reception and attendance at ceremonies for the 2018 class of inductees to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, a tour of the state’s hall of fame exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of History, and participation in a seminar involving some of North Carolina’s most celebrated sports figures.
Speakers at the seminar included former UNC-Chapel Hill basketball star Phil Ford and a special panel discussion featuring several members of the induction class.
The student-athletes are invited to sign up for Hall Pass. Each Hall Pass member receives interesting information about the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and the state’s sports heritage, including a monthly newsletter and special features in advance before the general public. Any student-athlete can sign up to become a Hall Pass member by visiting www.ncshof.org and clicking on Hall Pass.
