2024 Convocation and Graduation Awards

The awards below were presented at Convocation and Graduation at the close of the 2023–24 school year. Congratulations to these award recipients!

The Cum Laude Award is given annually to the graduating senior with the highest cumulative weighted GPA. This year’s recipient is Sarah Parrish.

The Maureen B. Gerhardt Award is given annually at Convocation to an upper school student who best exemplifies the values of honor, personal integrity, responsible citizenship, and service to the community as articulated in our mission statement. This year’s recipient is Thomas Dumbill.

The Community Cornerstone Awards, presented for the first time this year, are given annually to the upper school student in each grade who best exemplifies the qualities of Respect, Kindness, Integrity, and Responsibility. This year’s senior recipient is Folu Amao.

The Citizenship Award is given to those students whose daily action best reflects the Greensboro Day School motto of Friendship, Scholarship, Sportsmanship. This year’s senior recipients are Margot Manning and Tyler Johnson.

The Athlete of the Year Award is presented to students who earn a varsity letter in at least two sports during the last school year; show high academic effort; always represent GDS in a positive manner; demonstrate leadership, honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship; and reach a high level of athletic excellence. This year’s senior recipients are Camille Pool and Carson Goodrich.

The Class of 2020 Resilience Award is presented annually to a member of the senior class who best exemplifies resilience. This year’s recipient is Gabriel Rich.

The Founders’ Award is presented annually at Graduation to a member of the graduating class who best exemplifies the characteristics of scholarship, sportsmanship, and leadership implicit in the founding of our school. This year’s recipient is Carson Goodrich.
