Battle of the Books Team Secures Second Place

Greensboro Day School hosted the middle school Battle of the Books for District 9 on Tuesday, March 12. Six teams were represented: St. Pius School, The O’Neal School, Westchester Academy, Canterbury School, Burlington School, and Greensboro Day School.

Starting in August, the four-member team from GDS began working together as a B.E.A.T, coached by English teacher Karen Baldwin. This group quickly became fast friends and literary partners. While preparing for the competition, students read 20 books, became experts on five, and participated in mock competitions.

The team’s hard work paid off. On March 12, Greensboro Day School’s team claimed the #2 spot in the competition, with St. Pius School placing first. Congratulations to team members Rose Procton, Kevin Qin, Auden Rich-Minardo, and Jackson Taylor on this achievement!
