Entrepreneurs Share Advice in Shark Tank Competition
In celebration of Women’s History Month, GDS welcomed three women entrepreneurs to campus on March 13. This panel met with students in each division, spending a few minutes describing their own business journey before participating in a Shark Tank-style competition.
Our three “sharks” heard proposals from students in each division, who pitched a business idea or an innovative solution to an existing problem. Our panel gave feedback to each group and selected the winning pitch.
We’d like to thank our visitors for sharing their expertise with our students:
- Margaret Elaine, owner of Pound by Legacy Cakes, a family owned and operated specialty bakery producing fresh-made pound cakes.
- Christie Soper, co-founder of Pan-Asian Voices and Experiences of North Carolina, a nonpartisan, volunteer-led initiative created to educate by sharing real stories and experiences of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in North Carolina.
- Julie Taylor, president and owner of Taylor Engineering & Consulting, which specializes in the design and construction of water resources improvements for North Carolina communities.
