In the lead-up to Greensboro Day School’s annual Scripps Spelling Bee, spelling skills were put to the test across campus.

Seventy-three middle schoolers and 30 fourth graders competed in grade-level spelling bees, with the top students from each grade (pictured below) advancing to the schoolwide competition.

The schoolwide GDS Spelling Bee was held on January 16. After more than 20 rounds of exciting, competitive spelling, Azariana Derevianko ’33 emerged as the champion!

With her win, Azariana advances to the regional Scripps Spelling Bee competitions in February. Congratulations to all of our student spellers for their hard work and impressive performances. Best of luck to Azariana as she represents GDS at the next level!
