GDS Community Says Fond Farewell to Kirby Administrative Center

GDS Community Says Fond Farewell to Kirby Administrative Center

On June 24, 2024, we “razed a glass” in honor of the F.M. Kirby Administrative Center—Greensboro Day School’s original campus building. This event gathered the GDS community together to honor the past while also looking to the future, as the F. M. Kirby Center will soon be cleared to make way for the new Center for Student Life, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation (SLEI).

We were joined by past and current faculty and staff, past and current board members, alumni, parents of alumni, and other friends of the school as we celebrated this important part of our school’s history and the contributions of all who worked or went to school there.

In 2004, this original campus building was named The F. M. Kirby Administrative Center in recognition of many years of support from the Kirby Family and the F.M. Kirby Foundation. We are proud that the Kirby name will continue to be a part of the future of Greensboro Day School through the F.M. Kirby Administrative Wing in the new SLEI building.
