GDS Team Earns First-Ever Battle of the Books Victory

On March 12, our Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) team made history when they won the competition for the very first time! Six fourth graders went head-to-head against teams from St. Pius X, The Burlington School, and Canterbury and came out on top.

Our EBOB team members were Caroline Brevorka-Wells, Charlotte Chen, Aarya Dobhal, Angelica Palmer, Flip Ray, and Blair Stewart; all fourth graders who dedicated themselves to reading and studying the competition’s required reading list.

The competition consisted of 24 rounds, each featuring 12 questions drawn from the 16 books on the official Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) reading list. Each team faced every other team an equal number of times throughout the event, making for a full and challenging day of competition.

Elementary Battle of the Books is a program run by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA) designed to encourage a love of reading and reward students for their hard work and dedication to books.

Congratulations to our team on their well-earned victory!
