We are proud to announce that Director of Health Services and GDS alumna Linda Knox Register ’79 has been named North Carolina School Nurse of the Year by the School Nurse Association of North Carolina.
This award honors the contributions of school nurses statewide by recognizing one school nurse annually who has demonstrated excellence in their school nursing practice. This is only the second time since its inception in 2004 that the award has been presented to a private school nurse. The award will be presented at the Annual North Carolina School Nurse Conference in December, 2024.
Nurse Register has been with the Health Center at GDS since 1995, and her skill and expertise were pivotal in helping GDS navigate the 2020 pandemic. In recognition of her longtime dedication to the school, as well as the skilled and compassionate care she has provided to decades of students, the 2022 Prowler Yearbook was dedicated in her honor. In that dedication, Head of School Dr. Tracie Catlett said, “Linda, your work and dedication to the health and wellbeing of the GDS community has saved lives, healed wounds, and forged lifelong friendships. On behalf of the entire GDS community, thank you for all that you have done, continue to do, and will do to care for our students, faculty, and staff.”
Congratulations to Nurse Linda Register on this well-deserved honor!
