Personal and Meet Records Broken at Guilford County Indoor Track & Field Championships

Six members of the Greensboro Day School’s Indoor Track & Field team traveled to Winston-Salem on January 23 to compete in this year's Guilford County Championships. All six student-athletes achieved personal records.

Sophomore Dana Wilson improved on her previous 7.01s time in the 55m dash to dominate the competition with a sub-seven time of 6.99s, earning a gold medal finish, a personal best, and eclipsing the old meet mark by .04 seconds. Dana is currently ranked 2nd in the state in this event, 2nd in the Nation in her age group, and 11th overall. She also earned a silver medal in the 300m dash with a personal best time of 40.45s.

Freshman Lucy Eggleston raced to a 4th place finish with a season best time of 5:46.37 in the 1600m run and a personal best time of 48.90s in the 300m dash, placing her 29th overall in the meet.

Senior Sterling Sharpe finished 7th in the 1000m run with a personal best time of 3:04.68 and an 8th place finish overall in the 1600m run (4:58.71).

Other Bengals that achieved personal bests in the County Meet included Paige McKee ’23 with a time of 1:31.85 in the 500m dash, placing her 9th in the event and 27th in the 300m dash (48.18s). Senior Cindy Wang placed 27th in the 55m dash, winning her heat with a personal best of 8.13s. Grant Lindsay ’23 also raced to a personal best time of 5:51.33 in the 1600m run, finishing 23rd overall.
