Senior’s GOA Capstone Project Selected for Exhibition Showcase

For the capstone project in her Introduction to Investments course, Michelle Xia ’23 created a presentation examining how investments in the SCORE program facilitate the success of minority-owned small businesses. Michelle’s project was one of only 19 (out of 600 student projects) to be selected as exemplary and published in Global Online Academy’s Catalyst Exhibition Showcase.

GOA’s Douglas Beam told Michelle that, “Your presentation opened with an engaging, beautiful question, and your response was carefully researched, detailed, and compelling … I was particularly impressed with how you connected your project to local impacts, such as economic growth and diverse marketplaces … GOA is proud to publish your outstanding work.”

Michelle was able to take this Introduction to Investments class through Greensboro Day School’s membership in the Global Online Academy consortium, which offers students in grades 10–12 the opportunity to take specialized courses such as Architecture, Arabic, Bioethics, Game Design and Development, and International Relations, just to name a few.
