Seniors Rock Their College Shirts

On April 25, the class of 2024 celebrated their college destinations at Rock Your College Shirt Day, organized by the College Counseling Office.

Students took a group picture beneath The Hands of Bengal Nation sculpture, then took a series of fun group shots (in-state colleges, out-of-state colleges, ACC colleges, etc.)

Here are some fun facts about the class of 2024:

• 69 seniors will matriculate to 50 different colleges in 19 different states.
• The College Counseling Office processed 515 applications to 171 different colleges in 34 U.S. states (and three in Canada).
• 19 of the 50 colleges are public universities; 31 are private.
• 32 students will attend college in North Carolina; 37 will enroll out of state.

Thank you to the College Counseling Office for providing this memorable and celebratory experience for our seniors. GDS students benefit from an expert and experienced College Counseling Team that gives them a tremendous amount of resources and support during the college search process. This year,

• Every senior applied to at least one college by October 28.
• Every senior had at least one college acceptance by January 29.
• Every senior had a college pennant displayed by April 9.

“In this time of college uncertainty because of escalating cost and FAFSA complications, what we accomplished this year is pretty remarkable,” said Director of College Counseling Keeon Gregory. “More than 20 families showed up to share in the Rock Your College Shirt celebration. It is extremely gratifying to have so many happy parents at the end of the college admission process.”
