On October 26, we had the pleasure of inducting upper school students into five academic honor societies: The National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, The National Chinese Honor Society, The Spanish National Language Honor Society, and the National Latin Honor Society.
National Honor SocietyThe National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. This year’s inductees are Jamal Akintayo Mu Alpha ThetaMu Alpha Theta recognizes students who have completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory math, have completed or are enrolled in a third year of college preparatory math, and have a 3.0 math grade point average. National Chinese Honor SocietyInductees to the National Chinese Language Honor Society must be full-time high school students who have studied Chinese for four semesters in high school with an average of B or higher. A qualified candidate is someone who makes a consistent and positive effort in learning the Chinese language to serve as a positive role model in the area of Chinese studies. This year’s inductees are Ledger Aiello-Perrell National Latin Honor SocietyThe National Latin Honor Society recognizes students who maintain a 90% or higher average in 3 consecutive Latin courses and who exemplify good character and citizenship. This year’s inductees are Abigail Aron Spanish National Honor SocietyInductees to the Spanish National Honor Society must have completed three semesters of Spanish in the Upper School and have a minimum unweighted average of 85 in their Spanish courses. Inductees are also required to complete a minimum of three service hours on campus supporting the study of Spanish. This year’s inductees are Ford Bell |
